This is all about me..not my family or anyone else and it's about whining.
It has been one of those weeks that I haven't had in a long time or since February.
This all started by going to the doc on this Morton Neuroma thing and my shoulder with another surgery. Well my ankle hasn't been feeling so hot either -- probably a combination 10K trail run and 12 mile run. Now the ankle hurts even more!!! The only way it won't hurt is by having perfect running form. I think it's sprained. :( Two weeks before my first 1/2 marathon.
I have laid off running:
Monday I test drove it for 2 miles and it still ached.
Tuesday I biked.
Wednesday I ran again about 3 miles and it ached and then biked and proceeded to get stung by a wasp. Swelling, tingly lips. Trip to the fire department for epi and benadryl.
Today (Thursday) I ran 4.4 miles and the down hill is what really bothered it. I still ran pretty well considering I'm iceing the heck out of the ankle right now. (Think - numbness)
Thinking of going to the Doc and getting cortisone shots for the Morton and this ankle. I've trained so hard for this 1/2 marathon -- remember, I'm SO not a runner.
What am I going to do?!?!!! If I don't continue to run next week -- will this affect me come race time? Do I lay off of it for a week? Help!
Any advise is very much welcomed.... except the one that says "don't do the marathon".
Oh no! Crappy timing.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I really think rest will be more beneficial than detrimental. Take care of your ankle so you make it to the starting line. Once you're there, you'll make it to the finish.
GOOD LUCK!
Since i iced the leg, it seems much better than yesterday! oh, happy days... so the trick for me may be ice within 2 minutes of running. I see tomorrow how it feels.
