I'm so tired but so excited! I actually ran a 47:59 10K! (That is about 7:44/pace.)
The start was so fast I had to tell my friend, Carrie, to take it easy.... 5:29 pace! for about 3 minutes. She ended up upchucking two times before the 1st or 2nd mile. Glad I missed THAT one. I slowed a little and waited for her to catch up but she never did. At least we started together this time! Once we hit this turn around point with 1.2 miles to go, I saw Carrie and thought "crap she's going to catch me". Actually I was very glad to see her so close, but I still picked it up that last mile. Carrie had a PR of 50:48 -- with very little training for it. Lucky her. She's younger than me by 6 or 7 years.
My heart rate was another issue .. I have not seen Max HR of 192 since I was, well not telling you how old I am but it was about 6 to 7 years ago. Avg HR was 179! (my asthma is letting me know that now)
Fun was had by all and for a good cause. The best thing I did was start in the front -- people past me but I tried holding onto some of their speed -- drafting while running is very odd. There were a lot of fit fast people at this race. Wow.
I love the Garmin! The Garmin helped me through the high pace mentally and physically. The stats look amazing too! I pushed myself hard for a race I really didn't want to do. Really amazed.
The goodies they had for people who won top three ... Wine! The race start/finish was held at a Winery. How cool is that?! They also raffled great prizes but we didn't cash in on that either.
Stats:
3rd in A/G
30th Overall Women
110 Overall of 491
If they had a Masters category I would have been 8th overall. How cool is that?!
More stats from Garmin (time is off a little because I started my watch 15 sec early).
