10 in 10 Challenge

I started what is called "10 in 10 challenge" which is 10 pound in ten weeks, with some Twitter friends. Imagine telling complete strangers on twitter what your weight is!!! Egads! I've never been skinny, fit but not skinny, except the time for a year I was anorexic, but that was when I was young and stupid. Put it this way, I don't ever remember weighting 125 pounds!

When we moved 'out west' I put on a lot of weight (10+) and fat because of obvious depression...lost about 5 pounds but still have that nasty thing called 'fat' hanging around...literally.

It would be great to get back to my goal weight (and past racing weight) so I can run a race without feeling 'heavy'. So, guess what I did yesterday to start it off? Yesserybob I had ice cream. A cup of low fat Mint chocolate chip ice cream. The good news is that it still doesn't agree with me! So I won't be having ice cream again. Me and milk don't like each other.

I do have to say that I have been eating good this past summer but think age has begun to slow me down; needing to be even more cautions on what I eat. I've always been a veggie eater but now I need to add in more low glycemic fruits. Any suggestions?

Obviously I've been working out -- so that isn't the issue.

Recently I was writing down everything I ate. I also did that when I was racing on the skates and managed to keep weight off, so I know it works. But I got lazy and stopped because I was eating about 1400 cal (and exercising...see previous posts) and not losing any weight.

Yes, I need to look at what I am eating. I'm sure that is it. So to start off ... no more Milk products except yogurt. No more red meat (doesn't agree with me either) no more bread (which I rearly eat) and drink more water..boring!!

Off to have some Yogurt after my rediculously hard/hurting 6 mile run.

  1. Age catching up, yep, me too!...as well as my 'required' liquid calorie of beer/wine or cocktail after work. Some things I'm just NOT willing to give up. I'm super sensitive to sugars so I have to go fairly low carb (even with all the training and racing). Some good complex carbs sometimes, a fig newton on a bike, and that about covers it.

  2. Good for you! I'm trying to lose 10+ lbs as well. I can really FEEL the excess weight.

    Good luck!
