12K of Christmas

What a fun race! All 'dressed' up in our Santa outfits..or whatever crazy thing people thought of..and running a hilly 12K.  This was suppose to be a fun training run.. Hahahaha! We originally intended this race to be a "fun" race with no pressure on running my best 12K.. for the first 2 miles! Seriously, too many people in a small space for the first 1-2 miles so running fast was in order.  There were people walking three and four across a road that had only one lane open. Seriously?! Why do people who intend to walk, start in the front?!! (I did end up gently pushing someone..no were for me to go except into her).

I didn't use my Garmin so I had no idea how fast I was going.  I just knew my friend Carrie and Amy were just ahead of me by seconds and I was trying hard to catch up. Amy ended up stopping and waiting -- she had cramps -- and Carrie, it turns out stopped for a second or two at the water stop but unfortunately I did too. So there was no catching her because we were running the exact time by seconds! So much for a fun training run!

Most of this race was just like the 10K I did a short while back so I knew all the hills..up and down. One thing lacking was water stops. Only ONE! I seriously needed one more.

I finished this in 1:00:15..slightly slower than my 10K time but..again..it was to be fun. How could anyone run fast in a Christmas dress! (Carrie finished in 1:00:04!)

  1. Great job on the race, so fun to be at events where everyone gets in the spirit. Agree with you about the walkers though...
