I should always check the elevation on races and not totally rely on others! This was so not flat like 'someone' Clarise said it would be but very glad it wasn't raining! The asthma wasn't happy about the temperature .. start time was about 36 degrees and it didn't warm up too much after that.
According to my Garmin this was a 10.2K (6.33 miles) in a time of 48:03... official time 47:57 (for a 10K). I was hoping for a PR but that can't happen when the first three miles are pretty much uphill and I wasn't feeling all that great to begin with. I could not get a rhythm going and I kept trying to catch this one girl wearing a blue shirt and finally did near the top of the hills at around mile 3. Someone caught me before that point and she said the same about me... "catch the girl in white". This same women said at the top of the hills "I hate down hills" ... 'nuf said. See ya! I love them!! Caught the girl in blue and just kept going. The one+ mile down hill was awesome and scary at the same time. Max speed pace 4:59! Then I had my sights on this girl in a pink shirt.. she had a better kick the last mile than I did. The two guys I passed at mile 4 didn't like that, so one of the guys, who apparently caught back up to me at the very last moment, passes me just at the finish .. dork... racing against a women and to top it off he was 15 years younger then me!
Gotta love a little competition.
I ended up 28th (or 27th or ?) overall women 5th or 6th .. they had result issues at the end and somehow I won my age group 40-49. AND I just looked at the results again and it is still really messed them up! (Now I'm 8th overall... there is no way... only about 4 women where in front of me.)
Always the competitor!
I would do this race again if they didn't mess up results so badly.
